Owner / Lead Mechanic

I've been working on cars and motorcycles pretty much since I learned to walk. My Dad was (and still is) an amazing mechanic, and he taught me everything he knew. Even from such a young age, I knew I wanted to be just like him and constantly surrounded by tools and motorcylces. As a teenager, I spent all my free time learning about mechanics, welding, milling, electrical work, etc. When I was 19 years old, I started working construction in order to support my growing family, but I always had a dream of doing motorcycle work full-time.

Back when I was in construction, I was working 60-70 hours a week, but I knew I would never have enough money to buy a fancy chopper. So I bought an old motorcycle that barely worked, chopped it, made and installed some of my own parts, fixed up the engine, gave it some new paint and I had my own chopper! It felt so good to have everyone staring at me in awe as I rode down the street. Even guys with brand-new Harleys asked me where they could get a bike like mine.

Shortly after that, I was in a construction accident at work and almost lost my life. After I recovered, I decided that I was going to quit construction and do what I really loved full-time. I started out building choppers in my garage at home, but with the encouragement of my friends and family, I officially opened JR Custom Cycles in spring of 2006. We were at our old location on Main Steet in Rockford for 1 year, but we have since closed that location and opened our new location on Forest Hills Road in Loves Park.

Cindy Lozano

Painter / Web Design and Maintanance

Ever since I was a little girl, I wanted to be an artist. Unfortunately, the small school that I attended did not have an art program. I transferred high schools my senior year and dove into the art program head-first. My art teacher told me that I had a real talent and encouraged me to apply to an art school for college. I was accepted into the prestigious American Academy of Art in Chicago in 2001, the same year that I met and married Ray.

Soon after our marriage, I became pregnant and dropped out of art school in order to focus on raising our son. Artwork was put on hold for a few years, but after Ray started JR Custom Cycles, I quickly found a way to incorporate my love of painting and the techniques that I had learned into the business. After the birth of our second son, I picked up an airbrush for the first time. I quickly took to it and began airbrushing motorcycles full-time. Today, JR Custom Cycles can proudly boast some of the finest motorcycle artwork in the Rockford area. Please visit our "Bikes" page for pictures of some of my airbrushing.

I also designed and maintain our website. You can contact us any time at sales@jrcustomcycles.com, and I will do my best to respond within 1 business day.
